Smells like Summer
In the big valleys and the canyons,
the smoke just tends to sit,
between here and the Yukon border,
about four hundred fires are lit.
The summer sun shows little mercy,
trees and grass are tinder dry,
thunder stalks the twilight ridges,
lightning shatters the evening sky.
It aint really that unusual,
seems like, as long as I been alive,
we get these bad fire seasons,
about one year out of five!
